Tyrone Township

January is Radon Action Month

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can enter homes through the foundation and become trapped. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States and testing is the only way to know if your home has high radon levels.  According to a study conducted by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE), radon is present in elevated levels in about 40% of Livingston County homes.  You can’t see, taste, or smell radon. Testing is the only way to know if your home has high radon levels.

Tyrone Township has free radon tests.  Please stop and pick one up at the front desk.  Learn more about radon on the county website or see recent radon maps of the township here.
